Troubleshooting

If something has gone wrong, look here first. Each entry describes a symptom and what to do about it.

1. Many samples did not produce an amplicon.

   We have found that hit-picking failures and diluting extracted DNA 30×–50× often facilitates amplification.

2. Plate numbers reset due to previous attempts to run ONTOLOGY.

   If you Initialized a run, ONTOLOGY will preserve the information in its workspace. If you try to rerun the same data, it is possible that the correct plate numbers will be “full”, thus forcing you to select different plates. If you want to “reset” the data and start from scratch, open ONTOLOGY, then select ONTOLOGY Workspace on the right side of the screen. There, you may move or delete the folder named after the batch ID. Upon restarting ONTOLOGY, all plates will now be available to select. Warning: Deleting the data from the Workspace is permanent and will no longer be accessible. First consider saving a copy!
